Running through the months of July and August each year,Comhaltas Seisiún can be found at 34 venues throughout all four provinces of Ireland.

“Seisiún is not just a concert but a unique traditional cultural experience. It gives audiences an opportunity to experience “real” Irish entertainment where a memorable night of ceol agus craic is always guaranteed.”

The first half of the night’s entertainment consists of a stage show of Irish music, song and dance. The show is followed by light refreshments (normally tea and scones); the night then concludes with an informal traditional session where the visitors are encouraged to participate if they so wish – this involves simple Irish dances such as Siege of Ennis, Walls of Limerick, etc and a song or two.

Are all Seisiún shows the same? These exciting stage shows all differ and reflect the cultural traditions of their particular region (for example Rockchapel Seisiún in County Cork will feature music and song, including slides and polkas, from the famed Sliabh Luachra tradition; the emphasis in Sligo will be more towards reels, jigs and hornpipes from the Coleman, Morrison and Kiloran era of the 1920s and 30s; Renvyle will highlight the Connemara tradition including traditional singing from the area, etc., etc
